The city of Layton is placed in Davis County. The place was settled in the 1850s. it was then a result of Kaysville. In 1868, Kaysville was officially incorporated as a city and Layton was added in the boundaries. Anyway, by the 1880s, most of the locals of Layton wanted to be separated from Kaysville. The issue reached as Ellison Vs. Linford case in 1984. The case was settled in support of the property owners of Layton. Layton became an built-in independent community in 1902 and was officially incorporated in 1920.
